Can you ship a car with belongings?

Many carriers allow a small amount of personal cargo, but they worry about weight, safety, and regulatory limits. Loose items can shift, block visibility, or invite theft. More importantly, most motor carrier coverage excludes non-vehicle contents, leaving your belongings uninsured; confirm any allowance (often 50–100 lb, below window line).

Preparing your car

Remove valuables and prohibited items like cash, firearms, perishables, and aerosols. Photograph the interior and odometer, secure permitted bags in the trunk, and leave about a quarter tank. Disable alarms and toll tags to prevent accidental charges.

Costs, timing, and paperwork
